2018-2019 Kumasi Basketball League season leaders Ashanti Royals suffered s hocking loss to Asafo Klicks in the latest round of games played.
The Royals lost 45-64 to Klicks in the only game played at the Kumasi Anglican Senior High School as the regular season winds to an end.
The result was a big surprise considering Royals had won seven of eight games going into the fixture and were expected to clinch another win.
However, Klicks gave its playoff seeding a big boost by beating the leaders with a 19 point margin. Klicks move to third ahead of Asawasi Comets.
Speaking to Basketballghana.com, league organizer Ekow Amoako echoed what many thought about Klicks surprise win.
“The match…was a shocking one cos nobody expected Klicks to beat one of the most experienced teams if not the most by such a comfortable margin” he said.
Despite the loss, Royals are still first on the league standings with seven wins in nine games and a 16 point build up.
However, the second game between Ayeduase Snipers and Patasi Invaders was called off due to weather issues.
