Ghana Combo Forward Ben Bentil was the standout player in Persiteri GS 76-75 win over Holargos in the Greece A1 Basketball League.
Victory in the Round 16 matchup was a must win for Peristeri after losing three straight games including losses to AEK Athens and Promitheas.
As a result, Peristeri slipped from third to fifth in the 14 team standings but a halt to the losses reflected on the team’s position in the standings as it halted the slide.
Peristeri has 11 wins and five losses this season with Bentil playing a key role in preventing his team from suffering a fourth straight loss.
Bentil scored a game leading 20 points and recorded three rebounds, three assists and a steal in 29 minutes as the first man off the bench. This is Bentil’s first season in Greece and is averaging 10.4 points and 5.4 rebounds.
The big duo Panathinaikos and Olympiakos lead the league with Panathinaikos in first place and Promitheas is third with 11 wins in 16 games. AEK Athens has the same record in fourth place.
