Mozambican Basketball Club Ferroviario da Beira has big acquisitions as it prepares for the maiden edition of the FIBA African Basketball League (AfroLeague).

The team has moved to sign Uganda Shooting Guard Robinson Opong and Serbian duo Bozo Djumic-a Power Forward- and Guard Vuk Jovanovic.

Ferroviario is scheduled to be in action in Group C from February 8-10 in Egypt with the host nation’s Al Ahly featuring in group games.

The Egyptian side -won this competition then known as Africa Champions Cup in 2017- leads the group alongside Ferroviario, Primeiro do Agosto from Angola and REG from Rwanda.

The new signings have amassed a ton of experience and Opong is a main stay in Uganda’s National Team including 2019 World Cup qualifying games.

These moves are necessary for Ferroviario to progress from the tough group and possibly improve on its sixth place finish it registered in the 2017 edition.

In a chat with FIBA, Power Forward Helton Ubisse sounded positive about the signings stating, “Hopefully they will bring quality and experience to the group, and help us reach higher heights”.
