The maiden edition of the Ghana Technical Universities / Polytechnics Sports Associations (GHATUSA) Games is only a week away from commencement.
The multi sport competition for the Technical University / Polytechnic sect in Ghana’s tertiary education sector used to be known as the GHAPSA (Ghana Polytechnic Sports Associations) Games.
The first GHATUSA Games is set to open on Friday, February 1 and end on Sunday, February 10 with all ten Technical Universities / Polytechnics participating.
Accra Technical University (ATU) will host a huge chunk of the disciplines with the Accra Sports Stadium and El Wak Stadium also booked as host sites.
Athletes are in line to compete in several disciplines including basketball, football, volley ball, tennis, badminton, handball and track and field events.
The host institution, ATU, is the most dominant force in basketball but is expected to be seriously challenged by bitter rival Takoradi Technical University and the fast improving Sunyani Technical University.
The UPAC Games commence in the aftermath of the GHATUSA Games.
