Basketballghana.com gathers invitation letters have been sent to Coaches and technical men nationwide regarding the upcoming Ghana National Under 18 3X3 Trials.
The trials session runs from Saturday, January 26-28 at the Accra Sports Stadium with prospective participants set to battle for places in the national team via a mini competition.
The mini competition dubbed “Young Lions Cup” is expected to have players from all spots of the West African nation. As such, invitation letters have been sent calling on Coaches to accompany players to the trials.
This weekend’s event is one of many initiatives from Ghana’s Basketball Association (GBBA) to build a strong talent pool for the national team.
Like so many nations on the continent particularly Angola, Ghana is angling itself to cash in on young talented players early.
3X3’s sharp growth in popularity over the years has resulted in the competition’s inclusion in the 2020 Olympic Games. In Ghana, 3×3 basketball is gaining momentum witnessed in the successful Dalex SWIFT Hoops 3×3 Tournament.
Ghana’s biggest college basketball event-UPAC- is set to have a special 3×3 competition in this year’s edition.
