The fifth edition of the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship is set to commence early next month.
This year’s UPAC has been scheduled to run from February to April with the specific starting and closing dates yet to be confirmed.
However, Basketballghana.com can confirm this year’s edition has 32 tertiary institutions competing at the preliminary stage of Ghana’s biggest basketball competition at that level.
Institutions in all three sects of Ghana’s tertiary education stage including Public and Private Universities and Colleges, Education and Health Colleges and Technical Universities/ Polytechnics are eligible to compete.
Competing teams are placed in eight zones with four teams in each zone and the winners qualify to the quarterfinal stage where a special draw will be held to place them in groups.
The top two teams in such groups make it to the semifinals and the final game is staged between the semifinal winners.
Quarterfinal, semifinal and final games will be held in Accra. University of Ghana are defending champions.
