Ghana Forward Nathan Mensah was in action early this morning for San Diego State University’s Men’s Basketball team in the United States.
Mensah scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds in 26 minutes of action as a starter as the Aztecs beat New Mexico Lobos 97-77.
The win is San Diego State’s 10th win in 17 games this season but condemns New Mexico to its ninth loss in as many games.
The 6 foot 10 inch Mensah got off to a terrific start scoring 12 points in the first half with ten points coming five minutes into the game.
His opening burst gave San Diego a 19-8 lead setting the team up for the 20 point win despite New Mexico’s resistance mid way in the game.
San Diego was led by Forward Jalen McDaniels who poured in 24 points and 11 rebounds for a much needed win following the team’s 48-62 loss to Air Force.
The second Ghanaian on San Diego’s team Joel Mensah did not play in the game.
