Shama Senior High School’s bronze medal win at the 2019 Sprite Ball Championship marked the team’s best finish in the competition.

This year’s competition ended over the weekend with Mfantsipim School winning the Boys Division and Kumasi Girls Senior High School winning the Girls Division at the El Wak Stadium in Accra.

Despite finishing third behind Kumasi Girls and Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School, Shama achieved its best result in Ghana’s biggest high school basketball tournament.

Shama clinched third place with a 16-14 win over St. Louis Senior High School after missing out in last year’s competition.

The Western Regional representative scored a 20-9 win over Nkawkaw Senior High School and topped Group B favorite Accra Wesley Girls High School 22-19.

However, the dream run to the finals ended in the semifinals after a 9-21 loss to Kumasi Girls before regrouping to clinch the bronze medal.

Shama joins St. John’s School, Ahantaman Girls Senior High School and GSTS as regional representatives to win bronze at Sprite Ball.
