The latest edition of the Sprite Ball Championship ended this past weekend at the El Wak Stadium in Accra with Mfantsipim School winning the Boys Division for the fifth time.
In the Girls Division, Kumasi Girls Senior High School retained the title after recording a 22-14 win over Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School.
However, there were a lot of surprise winners in the division with silver medalist Mfantsiman Girls leading the way.
Mfantsiman had missed the past two editions of the competition heading to this year’s tournament but walked away with its best result in the competition.
Shama Senior High School clinched the bronze medal courtesy a 16-14 win over St. Louis Senior High School. Placing third is Shama’s best finish in the competition.
St. Louis placed fourth on its return to the tournament after a long absence. Prior to qualifying behind Kumasi Girls as Ashanti regional representatives for this year’s tournament, St. Louis last played at Sprite Ball in 2011.
