The 2019 Sprite Ball Championship ended recently at the El Wak Stadium in Accra with Mfantsipim clinching its fifth title in the Boys Division to a 35-16 win over West Africa Senior High School (WASS).

In the Girls Division, Kumasi Girls Senior High School successfully defended the title the school won last year courtesy a 22-14 win over Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School.

Wild celebrations marked both schools achievements but the mood in Opoku Ware School’s (OWASS) was subdued after finishing in third place.

OWASS topped 2018 national champions Presbyterian Senior High School (Osu-PRESEC) 24-19 to clinch the bronze medal.

The December 2016 Champions did not celebrate much after winning the bronze medal; OWASS lost 14-24 to Osu-PRESEC in the semifinal.

Coach Alexander Obeng “KT” Takyi summed up the mood of the team stating “when you’ve won the title, placing third you don’t celebrate when you win bronze”.

Opoku Ware topped Group C beating Adisadel College and Koforidua Secondary Technical School (KSTS).
