West Africa Senior High School (WASS) Male Basketball Team has qualified to play in the Sprite Ball Championship final for the first time in the school’s history.
WASS has been the biggest surprise of this year’s tournament and the final appearance gives the Adenta based school a big chance to extend the unique run.
WASS stunned Opoku Ware School (OWASS) in the first semifinal in the Boys Division via a 25-12 win in a game OWASS struggled to get going on both ends of the court.
The 2016 Champions trailed 4-19 at a point in the game underlining OWASS’ poor play at a crucial stage in its quest for a second title.
WASS possesses a unique blend of size, skill and stamina and all three elements came together for the surprising result.
WASS has a chance for a historic title when it takes on the winner of the third straight Mfantsipim School-Osu PRESEC matchup in the division.
Last year Osu-PRESEC beat Mfantsipim 25-22 to clinch the title.
