The biggest and most important results in the 2019 Sprite Ball Championship were recorded by Mfantsipim School and Kumasi Girls Senior High School.
The two teams emerged winners in the Boys and Girls Divisions respectively in this year’s tournament played earlier today.
Mfantsipim School won its fifth Sprite Ball title thanks to a 35-16 win over West Africa Senior High School (WASS) in the final game.
WASS got off to a very good start thanks to a 6-0 lead but got pegged back by a battling Mfantsipim side that tied the game’s score at eight in the first half.
Several fast break points off costly turnovers from WASS got Mfantsipim to establish a big lead and seal the win.
In the Girls Division, Kumasi Girls got its second straight Sprite Ball title thanks to a 22-14 win over Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School.
Kumasi Girls became the first school in the division to successfully defend its national trophy after Sacred Heart and T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School.
Sprite Ball is Ghana’s biggest high school basketball tournament.
