Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary (POJOSS) and St. Louis Senior High School have scored important wins in the 2019 Sprite Ball Championship.
This year’s competition commenced earlier today with big wins for defending champions Osu-PRESEC in the Boys Division and Kumasi Girls Senior High School in the Girls Division.
POJOSS clinched a hard fought 39-31 win over Prempeh College in Group B which puts last year’s bronze medal winners-POJOSS- in a good position to qualify to the quarter finals.
A poor start harmed Prempeh’s chances of clinching the game’s win as the side trailed 6-14 early on in the first half.
The team fought back gallantly to reduce the deficit to six (17-23) at half time but couldn’t complete the comeback to lose the opening game.
Prempeh College must win its matchup against West Africa Senior High School to have a chance of progressing to the next stage.
On the other hand, St. Louis completed the comeback against two time silver medalist Accra Wesley Girls High School with a 13-11 win after trailing 3-5 at half time.
