Defending Sprite Ball Champions Kumasi Girls Senior High School and Presbyterian Senior High School (Osu-PRESEC) have recorded big wins in the opening games of the 2019 Sprite Ball Championship.
PRESEC opened the Boys Division with a dominant 33-9 win over competition debutant Bishop Herman College in Group A.
The win is reminiscent of Osu-PRESEC’s big win in the first game of the 2018 Championship setting the team up for a shock title win.
Osu-PRESEC beat Mfantsipim School 45-14 last year and repeated the big win in this year’s tournament which commenced today and on Saturday, January 12 at the El Wak Stadium in Accra.
In the Girls Division, Kumasi Girls Senior High School secured a 39-6 win over Mawuli Senior High School in Group A.
The Kumasi-based schools seeks to clinch back to back titles in the division for the first time since 2015 but Coach Zibo Brown was not entirely happy about how things panned out expecting his side to score at least 40 points.
The Sprite Ball is Ghana’s biggest high school basketball tournament.
