Ghana Forward/Center Ernest Aflakpui ended Temple University’s 85-81 win over Wichita State University in overtime as the game’s leading shot blocker.
The 6 foot 10 inch player blocked three shots as the Owls battled long and hard to win the tight contest earlier this morning.
That aside, Aflakpui scored seven points, grabbed eight rebounds and made two steals in 34 minutes without any turnovers.
Beating Wichita is a positive response from Temple after losing 73-78 to University of Central Florida in the prior matchup.
In his final year in Temple, Aflakpui is recording career highs in all categories including rebounds as he is averaging 7.2 per game this season.
The win is Temple’s 11th of the season in 14 games ahead of its big matchup against Houston on January 10 while Wichita’s record drops to seven wins in 14 games.
Alston Shizz Jnr. led Temple with 22 points with back court teammate Nate Pierre- Louis scoring 21 points. Wichita’s Markis McDuffie led all players in scoring with 24 points.
