Defending Sprite Ball Girls Division Champions Kumasi Girls High School have been drawn in Group A of this year’s competition. The upcoming tournament runs from January 11-12 at the El Wak Stadium in Accra.

The school leads the group which has Mfantseman Girls Senior High School, West Africa Senior High School (WASS) and Mawuli Senior High School.

Kumasi Girls became the third team from Ghana’s Ashanti Region to win the division following a 30-29 win overtime over Accra Wesley Girls High School.

Yaa Asantewaa Girls and T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High Schools won the competition in 2011 and 2014 respectively. T.I. Ahmadiyya added another title in 2015.

Mfantseman Girls are former bronze medal winners but missed the past two editions and neither Mawuli nor WASS has clinched a medal yet.

Kumasi is tipped to go all the way to the finals where the team has a big chance to become the first to successfully defend the national title since2015 and third overall to do so after Sacred Heart Senior High School and T.I. Ahmadiyya.
