Osu (green) v Pope John in 2018 semifinal.
Ahantaman beat Aggrey (all white) to clinch bronze last year.
Groups in the preliminary stage of this year’s Sprite Ball Championship have been decided following the successful live draw aired on the competition’s official page on Facebook.

The various sects in the Girls and Boys Division were determined on exactly a week from the tournament’s commencement. This year’s competition runs from January 11-12 at the El Wak Stadium in Accra.

12 schools in the Boys Division were drawn into four groups with each group having three teams and two eligible to qualify to the quarter finals.

However, there was no such thing as a “Group of Death” in the Division with the various having runaway favorites to progress to the next stage.

Group A has defending champions Osu PRESEC against debutants Bishop Herman College and Sekondi College while Group D has record winners Mfantsipim School and Keta Business College.

Group C has two stand outs in Opoku Ware School and Adisadel College; KSTS has been poor in recent seasons and failed to win a game last year.

Prempeh College and Pope John are favorites to progress from Group B ahead of West Africa Senior High School.

The same theme runs through the Girls Division as 2018 Finalists Kumasi Girls and Accra Wesley Girls High School are heavily tipped to qualify from Groups A and B respectively.
