The start date for the 2019 Sprite Ball Championship is exactly a week away with the upcoming edition set to run from January 11-12 at the El Wak Stadium in Accra.
This year’s competition comes on the back of the live draw to be held today at 15:00 GMT on the competition’s official page on Facebook.
The 2019 tournament however has a reduced number of participants with organizers-Rite Sports Limited-angling towards improved competition in the various divisions as a reason behind the move.
Unlike previous editions which had 26 schools participating, with 16 schools in the Boys Division and 10 schools in the Girls Division, this year’s competition has 20 participating schools.
12 schools will be involved in the Boys Division with defending champion PRESEC-Osu headlining the division. Eight schools will be involved in the Girls Division.
Kumasi Girls Senior High School are defending champions and are heavily tipped to make another finals run in the female division with several former winners and heavy hitters failing to qualify.
