The 2019 Sprite Ball Championship is upon us with Ghana’s biggest high school basketball competition taking place from January 11-12 at the El Wak Stadium in Accra.

The Draw to determine groups at this year’s tournament will be held live today at 15:00 GMT on the Sprite Ball official page on Facebook.

20 schools have qualified to compete in the 2019 edition with 12 schools in the Boys Division and eight schools in the Girls Division.

Out of the 12 teams to be drawn today, Group B has the most returnees from last year’s draw with three teams making it back to this year’s competition.

In 2018, Group B had St. John’s School, Prempeh College, St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School and Koforidua Senior High Technical School (KSTS).

With the exception of St. Thomas Aquinas, St. John’s, Prempeh and KSTS qualified from various regional competitions to be eligible for today’s highly anticipated draw.

Group C has the least number of returnees with only Pope John Senior High School and Junior Seminary set to play next week. The likes of St. Augustine’s College failed to qualify or this year’s competition.

Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC-Osu) is the reigning champion of the division.
