Players in the NBA Gatorade League are eligible to sign contracts with NBA teams from Saturday, January 5 this year.
The provision gives players in the development league a big chance to earn a spot on a team in the world’s best basketball league.
Contracts awarded usually around this time are short with most coming in ten day deals for players; players like Hassan Whiteside of Miami Heat have gone on to sign long term NBA contracts after impressing in such short stints.
Ghana Center Amida Brimah is primed to be snapped up after helping Austin Spurs win last season’s league title while leading the league in blocks.
The former University of Connecticut Captain is ranked second in blocks this season averaging 3.2 per game. He falls behind Chris Boucher of Raptors 905 who has been called up by affiliate club Toronto Raptors.
Through 21 games this season, Brimah has improved his scoring and rebounding numbers as he is averaging 8.1 points and 8 rebounds per game.
