Ghana Forward Ben Bentil spent time in the Chinese Basketball League with Xinjiang Guanghui Flying Tigers as a replacement for injured star Andray Blatche.

Bentil featured for two months in China before moving back to the United States to end the season in the NBA Gatorade League with Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

However, after a spell outside the national team, Blatche is set to return to aid Philippines flagging 2019 FIBA World Cup qualification chances.

The Asian powerhouse is aiming to qualify to next year’s World Cup to be held in China and the return of the former Washington Wizards and Brooklyn Nets big man is eagerly awaited.

Philippines lost two games in the last qualifying games to Kazakhstan and Irag at home leaving them in fourth place in Group F behind Australia, Iran and Japan.

Blatche said in an interview with FIBA, “It’s confirmed. I will be back to play for the Philippines in February! Can’t wait to win these two games for the best fans in the world.”
