2018 Sprite Ball Champions Kumasi Girls.

According to Kumasi Girls Senior High School Physical Education Department Head Joyce Agyei, the school’s basketball court is yet to see any improvement almost a year after Basketballghana.com covered the deplorable state of the facility.

The court is a make shift facility carved out of an unused piece of land designated to be used for a dormitory in the future.

A sole steel rim is the only feature that marks the arid piece of land as a basketball facility; the playing surface is uneven and exposed to the harsh conditions of the weather.

Players have to practice in the school’s assembly hall which has a smoother surface for ball handling aspects of their game.

Despite the grave odds stacked against them, Kumasi Girls won its maiden Sprite Ball Championship title in January this year with a 30-29 overtime win against Accra Wesley Girls High School.

Ghana’s leading hoops portal covered the sorry state of the facility after the school’s January success where Agyei appealed for help to improve the court.

Kumasi Girls and St. Louis are representing Ashanti Region at the 2019 Sprite Ball Championship that runs from January 11-12 at the El Wak Stadium in Accra.
