The roster for the upcoming AfroLeague Championship in January, 2019 is almost complete as 15 of 16 slots have been taken up.

Next year’s competition is the first edition to be played under the new AfroLeague which used to be known as Africa Champions Cup.

The continental Championship will be played in an entirely different format with mini competitions highlighting the new format including home and away games at the Elite Eight stage.

Ghana’s Braves of Customs recently competed in the Zone Three qualifiers but missed out on progressing to the main competition.

Rivers Hoopers and Civil Defenders from Nigeria and Elan Sportif from Benin qualified from the zone with Zones 1 and 6 producing three representatives too.

Zones 4 and 5 have two representatives each with Zone 7 having a sole representative in next year’s tournament. Per reports gathered by Basketballghana.com, the wild card spot is likely to be handed to the zones with fewer reps ruling out the prospects of the slot going to Zone 3.
