Kwame Boamah Djan has been named the Defensive Player of the Year Award at the end of the 2018-2019 Tema Community Basketball League campaign.
This is the second time the Nungua Coldstore Forward has won the top award after winning it in 2017 as Tema Community 4 won the league title.
Djan delivered big plays as Coldstore battled from a Game One 58-63 loss to Tema Heat to win the trophy thanks to back to back wins in Game 2 and Game 3 at Tema’s Community 4 Court.
The former St. Augustine’s College standout was a force around the rim blocking several shot attempts from Tema Heat in the exciting Finals Series against Heat.
While his offensive production ticked down a bit in the Finals, he was on hand to score the final basket from the free throw line to seal Coldstore’s 53-49 win to seal its second league title.
Djan was one of many Coldstore players honored by the league. Guards Emmanuel Wolff and Kwame Opoku won Best Shooter and Best Guard Awards respectively and Wendell Otoo was named Coach of the Year.
