West Africa Senior High School (WASS) has qualified to participate in the 2019 Sprite Ball Championship in the Girls Division and Boys Division.
The Coed school’s basketball teams starred in both divisions to progress from the Greater Accra Regional qualifiers played this past weekend and continue a fine run of appearances.
In the Boys Division, WASS secured a 15-5 win over Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC-Legon) in the final game.
In the Female Division, WASS run away with a 15-5 win over Accra Wesley Girls High School in the final game to return to the national competition after last year’s appearance.
WASS and Accra Wesley Girls will represent Ghana’s capital region at the next Sprite Ball which takes place from January 11-12 at the El Wak Stadium in Accra. Accra Wesley Girls are two time national finalists.
In the Boys Division, WASS and national defending champions PRESEC-Osu will represent the region come January. Osu-PRESEC qualified despite exiting the regional competition at the semifinal stage.
Osu-PRESEC beat record winners Mfantsipim School 25-22 to clinch its maiden national title.
