Braves of Customs chances of qualifying to next year’s FIBA AfroLeague Cup took a big hit after losing 53-66 to Civil Defenders of Nigeria.
The loss is the Ghanaian representatives third in the FIBA Africa Champions Cup Zone 3 qualifiers in Cotonou, Benin. Six teams from the West African sub region are participating in the competition.
Braves-perennial winners of Ghana’s elite club basketball competition, the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division-take on Harbel Pointers from Liberia in its final game of the competition which started on December 8.
However, a poor first quarter performances from Braves played a big role in losses to Rivers Hoopers from Nigeria and Eland Sportif from Benin to the ire of Coach Lawal Brimah.
Hoopers beat Braves 70-52 and Sportif scored an 81-64 win in the opening games but ended the losing run with a 75-50 win over AS Police from Niger.
Rivers have qualified to the AfroLeague and two qualification spots remain with the tournament ending tonight.
