Egypt and Cameroon are tied on 19 points in Group E of the 2019 FIBA World Cup African qualifiers following an interesting round of qualifying games.
Both nations are locked in on grabbing one of the two remaining spots to make it to China next year for the World Competition.
Reigning African Champions Tunisia, former continental winners Nigeria and record African Nations Championship (AfroBasket) winners Angola have qualified to the World Cup.
Egypt had a big advantage heading to its matchup against Cameroon after beating Tunisia 73-64 on Saturday. The loss was Tunisia’s first of the qualifiers.
However, the North African nation lost its momentum after suffering a 60-80 loss to Cameroon a day later to go level on 19 points.
Tunisia leads the group with 22 points and a point ahead of Angola in second place; Angola topped Tunisia with a 69-63 win.
In the final game of the qualifiers, Morocco beat Chad 62-45. The next round of qualifiers commence in February, 2019 in Group F.
