Coach of Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School Basketball Team Ernest Koomson has stated his charges took every game in the qualifiers as a final game.
Mfantsiman wrapped up competing in the just ended Central Regional qualifiers at the Adisadel College in Cape-Coast as winners.
The team beat then defending champions Wesley Girls High School 7-6 in the final game to win the competition and qualify to the Sprite Ball Championship.
This is Mfantsiman’s first qualification after missing the past two editions of Ghana’s biggest High School basketball tournament.
In the aftermath of the sizable achievement, Koomson was in bullish form after delivering on his promise to get Mfantsiman to the main tournament.
“We had to take them game by game, take every game as a final. They (the players) really showed that seriousness and discipline yesterday and we won all the games” he said.
By piping Wesley Girls to represent the region in next year’s competition, Mfantsiman yet another giant killing mark to its impressive list this year after eliminating two time national champions Aggrey Memorial Zion Senior High School in the zonal division.
