Interesting results have been aplenty in the opening phase of the final regional qualifiers in the Central Region for the upcoming Sprite Ball Championship.
Today’s qualifiers are being played at the Adisadel College in Cape-Coast with six teams in the Girls and six teams in the Boys Divisions competing respectively.
However, shocking results have come through as record national winners and defending champions Wesley Girls High School has lost.
The team lost 14-16 to Swedru School of Business to further widen an open field which is without perennial contenders Aggrey Memorial Zion Senior High School.
Two time national champions Aggrey Memorial missed out on qualifying from Zone 1 to play at the regional level as Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School beat them to it.
In the Boys Division, 2016 National Champions St. Augustine’s College has lost its opening matchup 19-29 to host Adisadel.
However, record winners in the Division, Mfantsipim School delivered a major statement trouncing Winneba Senior High School 37-7 to win its first game.
