Coach of Tema West Basketball Academy Albert Djan has stated competing in the Tema Junior High School Basketball League prepares young players for future competitions.
He made the statement in an interview on Ghana channel Kwese Free Sports “Head Start” program this morning ahead of the competition.
The maiden edition of the tournament runs from December 6-7 at the SOS Herman Gmeiner School in Tema Community 6.
Ten schools are set to participate including the host, First Star Academy and Tema Parents School in the first edition of the tournament.
The competition aims at harnessing the talented Ghanaian youth by providing a competitive avenue to compete and improve their skills.
Speaking on the show, Djan stated, “This competition is will develop the players for the Sprite Ball, the UPAC-Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges Championship-in the future”.
Djan has an extensive history working with young players after several years at Tema West Academy and coaching Koforidua Senior High Technical School at Ghana’s biggest High School competition-Sprite Ball.
