Interclube from Angola and First Bank from Nigeria are the star attractions in this year’s FIBA Africa Women’s Champions Cup quarterfinals.
The competition taking place in Maputo, Mozambique moves to the quarterfinal stage following the conclusion of games at the group stage.
Record winners of the competition Interclube and First Bank topped Groups A and B respectively after winning all four games in the first round.
First Bank run over I.N.S.S. courtesy an 83-45 win while Interclube ended the group stage on an equally impressive note with a 74-49 win over Equity Bank.
Interclube plays Madagascar’s MB2ALL on Friday, November 23 while First Bank plays FAP from Cameroon in a clash between the neigbouring nations.
Host Ferroviario Maputo takes on Kenya Ports Authority while the all Democratic Republic of Congo derby between Vita Club and I.N.S.S. rounds up competition in the quarters.
FAP sneaked into the top eight despite losing 42-70 to Vita Club while MB2ALL qualified after sealing a 58-48 win over Zimbabwe’s Lakers.
