Detailed reasons behind Teshie Rangers withdrawal from the 2018 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division II have been exclusively listed to Basketballghana.com

The varied reasons behind Rangers shock absence in the ongoing campaign were listed in a letter from Club official Wisdom Tsorgali. Rangers have not participated in the past two rounds of the seasons due to the withdrawal.

A 56-101 shellacking at the hands of Tudu Galaxy was Teshie’s last appearance in the league. Prior to the huge loss, the team was without a win in two games. Full details of the letter are below:

Teshie Rangers inception into the 2018 ABL D2 was mainly to expose the Jnr team and also groom them into the Senior team. They’ve played a series of friendly matches on the home court and have won an appreciable number of such games. We however had to back out of the ABL D2 Leaque due to

*1. Players Dont Train:* The Junior Team is mainly handled by Samuel Teye, He does the coaching and organises the training sessions for the Junior team. He coached the team in 2017 D2 league. In his opinion the lads dont turn up for training which made him take the decision to withdraw the team from the league to serve as a deterrent for the lads. His statement was simple- How can you play a league if you dont train.

*2. Cost in Registration:* The D2 organisers charged each team GHS 600 to participate in the league, a sponsor settled an initial deposit of GHS 200 with ABL hoping to settle the remaining with the contributions from the players. All calls and discussions to get guys committed did not pull a single coin the pockets of the lads. Team sponsors wanted just some commitment from the boys to top what ever was raised.

*3. TeamList:* The team were also to present a team list with vitals of the players with their passport pictures. Just a handful of the players did.

It is important to say that the withdrawal is to emphasize to the Jnr team about the fact that to excel and to achieve laurels in life is not by chance but careful planning, hard-work and commitment.

The Senior team remains resolute on coming back better in the TBL next season.
