Tema Heat will be playing in its first Tema Community Basketball League Finals later this weekend after sealing its place via a sweep of Francophone Stars in the semifinals series.
Heat produced a 62-57 win over Francophone Stars in Game 2 to seal qualify to the finals after beating Stars 53-51 in Game One.
Tema takes on Nungua Coldstore in the finals series on Sunday, November 18 at the Tema Community 4 Court as it attempts to clinch its maiden league title.
Coldstore qualified from the semis by sweeping Tema Community 2; this is Coldstore’s second final appearance after doing so in 2016 en route to winning the title.
Heat’s run has been somewhat overlooked as other teams like Coldstore are formers winners while others like Community 2 gained traction by eliminating defending champions Tema Community 4.
The team has a balanced roster filled with the veteran group led by Guard Patrick Gomerli and Forward Fred Yeboah and Coach Richard Bensah.
The younger group is headlined by Point Guard Andrews Ayienab, Shooting Guard Benjamin Owari and hard driving Forward Philip Barley.
