Opoku Ware School (OWASS) Point Guard Bismarck Akuako Sarpong has expressed optimism regarding his school’s chances of winning the Sprite Ball Championship in January next year.
He made the statement in an exclusive chat with Basketballghana.com in the aftermath of this year’s Ashanti Regional qualifiers held at the Our Lady of Grace Senior High School in Mamponteng.
Opoku Ware topped the qualifiers beating Prempeh College 26-21 in the final game with both schools qualifying to the next edition of Ghana’s biggest high school basketball competition.
Sarpong, who is a product of Youth Empowerment Through Sports (YETS) Ghana afterschool program was bullish about the December 2016 Sprite Ball Champions prospects of winning again.
“I am happy because this is my time I am going to Sprite (Ball) I am going to witness the Sprite competition…I am optimistic that we will win the trophy” he said.
OWASS failed to defend its national title at the last edition crashing out at the group stage.
