Youth Empowerment Through Sports (YETS) Ghana has extensive plans to build a youth development centre according to Coach Razak Umar Abdul.
He made this statement in an exclusive interview with Basketballghana.com when the nationa’s leading hoops portal visited YETS Ghana at Anwiankwanta close to Ghana’s Ashati Regional capital, Kumasi.
The after school program has been teaching children from under privileged homes in the area and close locations the rudiments of basketball. Through scholarship programs the unit receives from Senior High Schools and tertiary institutions for its products, plans have been put in place to expand the group’s operations.
“Our plan now is to have a youth centre..We have spoken to the Chief of the community we have potential sponsors who have been here to see our program and they want build a youth development centre for us where we can include other sports like handball and volleyball” he stated.
Four products from the schools recently helped St. Louis Senior High School make it totehSprite Ball for the first time in seven years.
