Ghana wrapped up competing in the 2018 3×3 Africa Cup this past weekend in Lome, Togo without progressing deep in the competition in the female division.
Ghana ended the competition in the bottom spot of the 12 team tournament after failing to clinch a win in two group games in Pool A.
The team lost 13-17 to Cape-Verde before suffering a big 6-21 loss to Uganda in the final group game; Uganda progressed from the group after beating Cape-Verde 21-5.
Mali successfully defended its title beating Democratic Republic of Congo 19-13 in the final game and host Togo secured a shock 19-17 win over tournament favorites Nigeria.
21 year old Malian player Djeneba Ndiaye was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the Tournament and led the competition’s scoring chart.
In the Male Division, Ivory Coast shocked the field with a flawless run that had them beat Uganda 14-6 to win the tournament.
Cheick Traore was named MVP and Nigeria completed the top three spots after clinching bronze. Below are the full standings in both divisions at the end of the competition:
