Defending Ashanti Region Female Division Basketball Champions Kumasi Girls High School has delivered a telling intent on retaining its title.

In the opening game of this year’s final round of qualifiers for the next Sprite Ball Championship to be held in January, 2019, Kumasi Girls drubbed Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School 40-2.

Kumasi Girls doubles as the defending Sprite Ball Champions after beating Accra Wesley Girls High School 30-29 in overtime in the last edition’s final game.

Despite the absence of Most Valuable Player at the last games Rose Yeboah, Kumasi Girls has a significant representation from the winning team for this year’s competition.

The experience showed right from jump ball as Kumasi Girls dominated its opponent and maintained a full court press for much of the game.

Kumasi Girls is the team to beat in the division with former winners and rival T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School failing to qualify from the zonal division.

This year’s regional competition is taking place at the Our Lady of Grace Senior High School in Mampongteng.
