The Tema West Basketball Academy is set to roll out the maiden edition of the Tema Junior High School Basketball Championship later this year.
The competition is due to run from December 6-7 at the SOS Herman Gmeiner School in Tema’s Community 10 suburb.
Six schools have been tipped to participate in the Championship per reports gathered by Basketballghana.com in the first edition prior to the busy Christmas period.
The competition has been created to improve the level of play at Junior High School level and give young players more avenues to show off their skill.
The tournament is the brainchild of Tema West Basketball Academy and Coach Albert Djan who has worked on similar projects.
Djan is a former Coach of Koforidua Senior High Technical School and current Coach of Wisconsin International University College.
Tema West Academy has participated in the Tema Community Basketball League Under 19 tournaments over the years.
SOS placed second at this year’s International Schools Sports Association Games (ISSAG).
