Ghana’s Female 3×3 Basketball Team has been drawn in Group A in the upcoming FIBA 3×3 African Championship to be held in Lome, Togo from November 9-11.
Ghana is in the group alongside top ranked Uganda and fellow West African nation Cape-Verde which has one available qualifying spot.
East African nation Uganda is heavily tipped to win the group due to its consistent and successful run in recent years and is one of the top sides on the continent.
West Africans Ghana and Cape-Verde fall way behind Uganda’s top pedigree and experience; the top ranked player on the continent 3×3 player Jamila Nansinkombi,plays for Uganda.
In Group B, Benin, Egypt and Nigeria will battle for a place in the semifinals; Nigeria are the defending champions. Benin hosted the Zone 3 Championship in September.
Ivory Coast, Democratic Republic of Congo and Mali are in Group C and Burkina Faso, Niger and Togo are in Group D.
Ghana is wrapping up preparations ahead of this weekend’s competition.
