Ghana Center Amida Brimah got off his 2018-2019 NBA Gatorade League season off to a great start recording a double-double in the opening game.
Brimah registered 20 points and 10 rebounds in 25 minutes of action off the bench in Austin Spurs 120-126 loss to Texas Legends.
Amida helped Spurs to lift last season’s title after beating then defending champions Raptors 905 in the finals series. Brimah led the regular season as the leader in blocked shots.
Despite success in his debut season, Brimah did not make the cut for San Antonio Spurs roster for this season’s NBA campaign.
However, players in the developmental league get a chance to land a spot on an NBA roster in January right about the midpoint in the season.
NBA teams hand G League players ten day contracts to impress on them for a roster spot. Fellow Ghanaian Ben Bentil played on a similar contract for Dallas Mavericks in 2017 after a run with Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
Consistent performances from the 6 foot 11 inch Brimah puts him in line for an NBA contract.
