Nungua Coldstore took a 1-0 lead in the semifinal series against Tema Community 2 in the ongoing 2018 Tema Community Basketball League playoffs.
Nungua clinched a 75-65 win over Community 2 over the weekend at the Tema Community 4 Court in an entertaining game to open the best of three games series.
Despite the ten point win, Coldstore was rarely troubled by C2 as the side looked in control for long stretches in the game.
The 2016 Champions are just another win from progressing to its second league final in three years after missing out at the semifinal stage in last year’s competition.
The last time Coldstore played in the final, the team swept Ashaiman Lions in the three game series after a dominant regular season.
That kind of dominance was on full display in the past regular season as Coldstore ended with 17 wins in 18 games and sweeping Akatsi Rifles in the first round.
Game 2 is on Sunday, November 4 at the same venue.
