The 2018 Tema Community Basketball League semifinals opened to an explosive start with a couple of thrilling wins for Nungua Coldstore and Tema Heat.

In the opening game, former league Champions Coldstore had little trouble dispatching Tema Community 2 75-65 to take the series lead.

The next game had Heat clinch a 53-51 win over Francophone Stars with the game decided in the final minutes of the matchup as Stars concentration faded away.

In a game that had the winning side change at the end of almost every possession particularly in the final quarter, Heat’s veteran side came through.

Patrick Gomerli and Fred Yeboah fronted the comeback by converting crucial baskets with minutes to go in the very physical game.

Yeboah stole a ball off an inbound pass to put Heat up 52-51 and in the lead for good as time run out before Shooting Guard Benjamin Owari scored one of two free throws to give his side the two point win.

Game 2 is on Sunday, November 11 at the Tema Community 4 Court.
