Debutants in the 2018-2019 GSP Basketball League Spartans and Techiman Merchants have clinched wins in the just concluded second week of games.
Spartans piped Desert Rabbits 33-30 while Merchants beat Barracks Scorpions 37-25 in a big round of r the debutants in this year’s league.
This is the second win for Spartans who are yet to be beaten and the 12 point win gives Merchants its first win after losing in the opening week.
It was not all merry for the new set of teams as fellow newbie Young Boys failed to show up for its fixture against defending champions Suncity Braves.
This is the first forfeited game of the young season and Braves have been awarded with a 20-0 win as a result. Young Boys record stands at a win and a loss in two games.
Sunyani Technical University (STU) beat Catholic University College (CUCG) Saints 26-19 and West Siders lost 30-39 to LIR Royals in the remaining games.
All games were played at the STU and Eusbett Courts.
