Opoku Ware School (OWASS) gets the chance to defend it Ashanti regional Sprite Ball title on Friday, November 9 at the Our Lady of Grace Senior High School.
The multiple time winners of the regional division and December 2016 National Champions have qualified for this year’s final qualifiers at the regional level.
OWASS heads to Friday’s qualifiers ion the back of a disappointing national title defense at the last edition where the team failed to qualify from the group stage.
Despite having remnants of the national championship winning team in Emmanuel Agyapong and Melchizedek Yorke, OWASS missed out on the quarterfinals.
The team will battle for spots against eternal foes Prempeh College and a strong field including Adventist Senior High School and Kumasi Anglican Senior High School.
In an interview on basketball program “Courtside” which airs on Ghana channel Kwese Free Sports, Coach Alexander Obeng Takyi stated his side is ready for Friday’s competition.
Winning the regional title guarantees a place at the next Sprite Ball Championship to be held in January, 2019.
