Panthers Basketball Club has recorded a 69-59 win over Swanlakers for its first win in the 2018-2019 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division II.
The veteran side clinched the ten point win earlier today at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu getting its campaign on track after suffering a shock 59-60 loss to youngsters Dunk Knights.
Panthers got off to a 7-0 start before Swanlakers got into their groove and tied the game at 11 with 3:22 remaining in the first quarter. Panthers Guard Rafiq Arthur drained a three point shot to restore his team’s lead and ended the quarter with an 18-13 lead.
Kofi Attafuah scored four points to give Panthers a 28-15 lead. Kenneth Caesar beat the buzzer with a three pointer to give Panthers up 36-25 at the end of the first half.
Swanlakers went on a good run in the third quarter to trail 41-47 with 3:10 remaining. Panthers responded to lead 56-45 at the end of the third quarter.
Panthers led 59-55 with 2:39 remaining in the game and converted from the free throw like down the stretch to win 69-59.
