University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) will not participate in the 2018-2019 GSP Basketball League season Basketballghana.com gathers.
The University’s Male Basketball team has been ever present on the eight team roster since the league’s inception in the 2015-2016 season.
The team won the 2016-2017 league title beating two time winners Suncity Braves to the title with Point Guard Robert Brew emerging as the league’s Most Valuable Player.
UENR finished last season second behind Braves but the rivalry between the two sides will be put to bed this season as all is clear the tertiary side will not b playing this time around.
This was all but confirmed when fixtures for the opening games were released by management with games set for Saturday, October 27 at the Eusbett Court and Sunyani Technical University (STU) Court.
Reasons behind UENR’s non participation are yet to be officially stated but the league welcomes three new sides to the roster.
Techiman Merchants, Young Boys and Spartans have been added to the roster for this season.
