Ghana will not be represented in the Male division of the upcoming FIBA 3X3 African Championship in Lome, Togo next month. The competition is set to be played from November 9 to November 11.

However, Nigeria will participate and veteran Guard Abdul Yahaya has indicated the team is aiming for the trophy which gives them a big shot at making the 2020 Olympics to be held in Tokyo, Japan.

The Olympic event will be the first ever for 3×3 Basketball since the basketball form started growing in popularity with only four players playing for a team.

Yahaya who has been a long term serving member of Kwese Nigerian Basketball League powerhouse Kano Pillars stated:

“First is our desire and determination to retain the African title we won in 2017 but also to accumulate points that would help us in regards to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.”

The defending champions will be competing against the likes of Ivory Coast, Mali and Egypt in Togo next month.

Ghana will feature in the competition next year.
