The 2017 League Champions exit was confirmed this past weekend on its home court when bitter rival Tema Community 2 clinched a 40-38 win.
The win was Tema Community 2’s second straight victory in the first round playoff series; Game One ended in a 33-27 win for Community 2.
This is widely a shocking result considering Community 4 held the fourth seed and played the regular season with a laid back approach fully aware it could turn up the style when needed.
However, fifth seed Community 2 put its regular season struggles aside to down the 2017 champions with back to back wins.
Community 2’s sweep of the last season’s winners means passage to the next round alongside former league champions Nungua Coldstore.
Coldstore clinched an 89-59 win over Akatsi Rifles for its second straight win in the three game series to move a step closer to reclaiming the league title.
