The 2018 Tema Community Basketball League playoffs rolled on this past weekend at the Tema Community 4 Court with title favourite Nungua Coldstore sealing progress to the second round.
The 2016 League Champions 89-59 win over Akatsi Rifles after clinching a 73-38 win in Game One exactly a week ago on Sunday, October 14.
Tema Community 2 was the toast of fans as the team eliminated defending champions Tema Community 4 with a 40-38 win in Game 2.
The win means none of last year’s finalists remains in the ongoing postseason as Ashaiman Lions went amiss prior to the commencement of the playoffs.
Citing unhappiness with league management over various issues, two time league finalist Lions withdrew from the playoffs despite ending the regular season as the second seed.
Lions have been one of the best sides in the league since its inception in 2016 winning two preseason trophies and playing in two finals.
With Community 4’s exit, neither team from last year’s final game gets another chance for a finals return.
