Novas (red) got past Galaxy

Novas Academy has claimed a 58-51 win over Tudu Galaxy in the opening game of the 2018 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division II season.

The entertaining game saw Novas quiet the partisan crowd at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu early but the fans found their voices late in the fixture as Galaxy made a big push to clinch the win.

Novas got a blistering start running off to an 11-1 lead by dominating the offensive boards and shooting lights out from three point range. Galaxy did not help matters by consistently turning the ball over. Novas led 15-1 at the end of the first quarter.

Galaxy fared better in the second quarter getting most points from the free throw line but Novas continued to fire away from deep to lead 34-14 at the end of the first half

Galaxy got a big boost from the bench as the sides deficit got shredded to 14 (47-35) heading to the final quarter.

Both teams traded three point shots in the final quarter but Novas held on to clinch the win.
